Depends
How often do you encounter failure (either in training or in competing) and how do you interact with it during/after it has held you back from your goal?
I am not a competitive athlete, so my interaction with sports is in the recreational/training sphere. Thus, I do not see failure in my training. Some days are more complex than others, but I do not see those as failures.
What motivator allows you to elevate your game beyond 100%? In other words, what is it within you that accounts for that extra push when you need it?
Personal thresholds. I am doing better than yesterday and beating today and tomorrow. It's the same with my photography.
